A local musician is devastated after someone broke into his car in La Jolla and stole his new cello -- an instrument he says he uses to support his family.
Erdis Maxhelaku, who started playing the cello when he was just 7 years old, put down $5,000 and took out another $5,000 from his retirement account to buy the high-quality instrument. He considered it an investment in his career and his growing family.
However, earlier this week, after coming back to his car parked in a La Jolla parking garage, he saw that his prized possession was gone.
"I opened the door and I think I must have stood here for about 3 minutes, just speechless," Maxhelaku said.
